It's been a long time since I blogged about my knitting.   (I have gotten lazy since I started using Ravelry.)  I have started working on a big project for this year - a tallit for Gabriel's bar mitzvah.  Thanks to the generosity of Annie Modesitt for sharing her pattern with me.  I'm attempting to do it using charts for the first time.  (Keeping my fingers crossed!)  I want to try and finish it before I start college in the fall because I know I won't have as much time for knitting after I start.  Here's a picture of the swatch.  I am using Knitpick's Shine Sport which is a lovely yarn that is a cotton acrylic mix that is nice and lightweight for Florida weather.

Gabriel's Torah portion is Va-yeishev (Genesis 37: 1-40:23), the story of Joseph and the turmoil with his brothers.  The story is what Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is based on so I decided to change up Gabriel's tallit from the original white and blue and do the stripes with rainbow colors.
